Are you thinking about buying some Ohuhu Grayscale Alcohol Markers? I bought this set of alcohol markers to use in my art and coloring.
In this video, you’ll see what I like about them, what I don’t like, and how they compare to my other sets of alcohol markers.

Dual-Tip Marker Design
With the dual tip marker design, you get a wide chisel tip and a fine tip. With the chisel tip, you can cover large areas quickly. I LOVE a chisel tip more than words! lol.
They come with color-coded caps so you can see which color is which.
I find a lot of the caps on all marker sets (no exclusive to Ohuhu) have caps that don’t always match the actual color. So be careful and always make a swatch so you always pick the right color.
Use the fine tip to make precise lines and the chisel tip to cover larage areas.
Perks and Pros of Ohuhu Alcohol-Based Marker Sets
There are some nice perks you can get from using Ohuhu Alcohol-Based Marker Sets. In this section, I’ll cover a few.
Ohuhu Markers Come at a Reasonable Price
Ohuhu alcohol markers are a mid range produce in terms of price. When you buy big sets, the per marker price is quite low. And ink refills cost about half a copic marker costs.
Quality of the Dual Tip Design
When you compare the dual tip design of any Ohuhu alcohol-based marker set, you’ll find that they are generally nicer than, say, a cheap marker set from Amazon. I’m not exactly sure what they’re made of, but they are a good quality design. They aren’t as nice as a copic marker, but for the price, they are a great buy.
You can also get Ohuhu replacement brush tips for your worn out tips, but I haven’t purchased them yet, so I have no opinion. And I’m not sure if you could replace a chisel tip with a brush tip.
Free Carrying Case With Every Set
They all come with a free carrying case. The carrying case is pretty floppy and it can’t be organized, so that’s a con, but it’s nice to have a free carrying case to use. I often throw in a set with a color chart and go out to sketch in the wild.
Blank Color Chart
Ohuhu markers almost always come with a free blank color chart so you can make a swatch. It comes with thick, matt paper. Some other alcohol markers sets (not Ohuhu brand) come with a swatch that has a shiny coating and the markers look awful. That’s why I created a swatch book.
Plastic Page for Bleed Protection
The Ohuhu Alcohol Marker sets also usually come with a plastic piece you can place between each piece of paper of your coloring book so your markers don’t soak through the page with wet ink.
I’m not a big fan of using this as it saturates the paper more than I’m used to, but if you start using it from the beginning, you may get used to it. And it will save you ink over time.
Colorless Blender
Each set usually comes with a colorless blender but I think this depends on the number of markers you buy. The colorless blender can be used to blend marker colors together or erase mistakes.
What I DON’T Like About the Grayscale Ohuhu Alcohol Marker Sets
No review would be complete without a list of cons.
I LOVE this set, so don’t take this as me saying anything bad about it. But I do prefer a brush marker with a brush tip and a chisel tip instead of a wide chisel tip and a fine tip.
That being said, I love these markers the way they are. I like having a variety of tips. And fine tips get the job done!
Can I Get Ink Refills
Ohuhu just came out with ink refills not that long ago. At the time of writing this, I don’t have any ink refills for this particular set. But check the Ohuhu site regularly as they may become available.
When to Buy Ohuhu Grayscale Alcohol Markers
Ohuhu grayscale alcohol markers make a great christmas gift for someone who loves to color or sketch but has mostly colorful markers. They come in vibrant colors and that’s what most people buy first. So most people who color or sketch don’t have the grayscale markers.
If you’re doing a lot of urban sketching, coloring things like buildings or outdoor landscapes, or just like to sketch in neutral tones, these ohuhu alcohol marker sets are a great buy.
